Let’s Hit a Home Run Helping the Virginia Hospital Center Medical Brigade Collect New and Gently-Used Baseball Hats
Join us for a celebratory kick-off event at Famille Cafe on Sunday April 7th @ 3-5pm with Hot Dogs, Raffles and Popcorn!
We need your hats! Please bring new and gently-used baseballs hats for donation to the kick-off event. If you can’t make the kick-off you can also donate hats anytime throughout April by dropping them off at Famille Cafe or in any of the collection boxes around Falls Church, including Little League Games.
“Seeing adults and children blinded by cataracts is heart wrenching and all too common in Honduras where the Virginia Hospital Center Medical Brigade serves the poorest of the poor. Many Hondurans do not have sunglasses or hats to protect their eyes from the sun, a primary risk factor for cataracts and skin cancer.”
– Dr. Barry Byer, President and Founder of VHC Medical Brigade
“Our players, coaches and umpires spend a lot of time being exposed to the sun throughout Spring Training and a 162-game Major League season. They remain careful by ensuring that they regularly apply sunscreen to their skin and wearing caps whenever they are on the field. Major League Baseball encourages all children, parents and officials involved with youth baseball or softball to adopt these same practices so that they can continue to be safe in the sun while enjoying our great game.”
– Commissioner Manfred, Major League Baseball
