On February 15th, The Kensington Falls Church celebrated its 6th Anniversary. Residents, family members, and alumni family members sent us their Happy Anniversary wishes and told us how their experience with us has been during these six years. “I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Kensington Falls Church. I toured and researched numerous assisted living facilities in three states before choosing the Kensington, which is head-and-shoulders above any place I have ever seen. The caring, devoted staff and managers of the Kensington Falls Church have taken excellent care of my father, who is in memory care, tending to his every need, for more than 3 years. They are always available around-the-clock by phone call, email, or text message should I need to reach them for any reason. Likewise, they immediately contact me, no matter the time, when they want to update me. Having such such communication with the Kensington is very comforting and allows me to rest easy. My father has been extremely happy at the Kensington. He enjoys the activities they offer throughout the day and evening. The music program is superb. Professional musicians perform daily at the Kensington. Plus, there are social outings and scenic drives. My father has benefited greatly from the onsite PT/OT/speech therapy and wellness services they offer.
Last but not least, the Kensington Falls Church is a beautifully decorated, luxurious, elegant-yet-comfortable and welcoming home, which makes residents and family members feel very special and pampered. The partners who founded the Kensington have attended to every detail that senior living should entail. They are actively engaged in managing the Kensington communities. They attend events at the Kensington Falls Church and make themselves available to talk with family members of residents. I have personally met with them over dinner, spoken with them by phone, and enjoyed events with them at the Kensington. “My mom lived in Missouri and my sister and I were looking for a place close by in Virginia where she could move. She was hesitant at first, but now loves her new home. There are so many activities that she can participate in and the staff is very friendly and attentive. She is very happy to have found her new home and we couldn’t be happier for her. “Our family loves the Kensington! My parents moved to the Kensington in April of 2021, when they could no longer live by themselves. The staff at the Kensington helped my parents transition into their new life style with love, patience, respect and kindness. My father passed away shortly after moving into the Kensington and after another difficult adjustment, the staff at the Kensington was exceptional. They know when to listen, when to cry, and most importantly, to support our grieving family. My mother is thriving at the Kensington, and absolutely loves the care and friendships that she has made. “Deciding to place a loved one in a memory care facility, and determining which facility best suits their needs, are two of the more difficult decisions I have faced. In my case, my spouse needed more care and a safer environment than I could provide. The Kensington – Falls Church has turned out to be the right place for her. From my first orientation visit, to the admissions process, to the care plan meetings, to the enrichment programs, to the overall personal and medical care, I am very pleased we are part of The Kensington family. While the “K” is a very attractive facility, it is the quality of the staff that I am most thankful for. Their stated promise “to love and care for your family as we do our own” is behavior I have seen at every level of the organization. From managers, to activity and enrichment staff, to servers in the restaurants, to care givers, to receptionists, to medical staff — to a person — the staff has been polite, professional, respectful, kind, caring, and genuinely demonstrated their love and commitment to the residents they serve. Equally important, as I newcomer, the staff has been patient and collaborative with me as I bring up questions and concerns. I have a lot to learn about how I can support and care for my spouse. I am being well educated by talented folks at The Kensington. No facility will likely be perceived the same as home, but in a number of ways the Kensington does more for my spouse than being home could accomplish. Plus, I am getting some peace of mind I did not previously have.”
