We found facilities that are both elegant and efficient, activities that are varied and stimulating, a competent and accessible administration, and staff personnel (of all specializations) who are friendly and concerned with the welfare of residents. Arrangements for health-maintenance and -improvement are well planned and carefully carried out. The quality and variety of the food served deserves special commendation. The Kensington has rather different policies and practices than other assisted-living residences (including dining freely accessible to family and guests). “Transitions and change are often difficult; the Kensington has helped ease my father’s transition, providing peace of mind to the family members. The Kensington provides a safe environment. It is an active community with strong social programs, enabling my father to quickly make connections.
The Kensington offers caregiver support programs and actively integrates the family into my father’s life and care. The resident is first at the Kensington, and the staff have worked hard to get to know my father as a person. They are warm and welcoming and offer active resident outreach programs. They provide holistic, wellness care, individualized to him at his level.
The staff work to preserve my father’s dignity and independence as much as possible. When entering the Kensington, they gave him an opportunity to start in the assisted living neighborhood and enabled him to stay in that neighborhood; making adjustments in his level of care as necessary.
The physical aspects of the Kensington speak for themselves. It is a beautiful facility with spacious suites my father could transform into his home. There are plenty of amenities on every floor and excellent cuisine.
As a new facility there are a few kinks to smooth out but it’s a safe harbor and home for my father.”
