A Monthly Gathering for Caregivers

with Aging & Dementia Expert Anya Parpura, MD, PhD

Take care of yourself so you can take care of others.

Have you ever been caught off guard and overwhelmed by the challenge of caregiving to a parent, spouse, sibling, partner or friend in the midst of your busy life?

Please join us on the first Wednesday of each month for an interactive group discussion designed to help you understand and deal with both sides of caregiving, providing it and receiving it. At the beginning of each meeting, Dr. Anya will provide a brief educational presentation to start us off on thinking and sharing experiences. However, discussion and sharing is not limited to the  introductory topic. We want you to feel comfortable and safe sharing whatever is on your mind.

Caregiving crosses all illnesses, conditions and health concerns. Providing care for loved ones often leads to feeling intimidated, confused, frustrated and exhausted.  Caring for people with dementia has been shown to have the highest caregiver burden.  At the same time, the ones we care for also have their own sets of challenges and emotional journeys that make this journey ever changing. Sharing this burden can relieve this stress and hearing from others that are going through similar journeys can provide you with solutions as well.
