Get Hip, Don’t Slip

September is Falls Awareness Month!

To close out the month, our on-site rehabilitation partners, Genesis Rehab, hosted a falls event this week called “Get Hip, Don’t Slip”.

The risk of falling increases significantly as we age, especially for those over 65 years old. Therefore it was the perfect occasion to check in with our residents about the potential for falls, and to make everyone aware of increased risk factors (like natural debris, ice, etc…) as we enter into fall and winter.

As part of the event, the Genesis team screened residents for balance, strength, flexibility, endurance, and cognition in addition to providing information and tips to increase general safety and falls awareness.

We had an awesome turnout and a special thanks to Director of Assisted Living, Robyn Lighthammer for helping get the word out! We hope that the residents enjoyed participating as much as we enjoyed hosting the event!
