We are lucky to have skilled pianist Aphrodite Mitsopoulou present residents at The Kensington with an in-depth lecture series on the history of music. She entertains the residents with her knowledge of composers, from baroque to romantic to modern, and she plays beautiful music from each era. Each song is preceded by a brief explanation of its style and history. Aphrodite was born in Greece and started her musical studies in the National Conservatory of Athens. She received her Master’s Degree in 2009 from the Boston Conservatory, and was granted a special award for artists with extraordinary ability. Aphrodite holds a special permission from the Hellenic Center in Greece to perform rare compositions. Most recently, she has performed as a soloist at the National Gallery of Art for the event entitled “From Romantics to Greek Composers of the 20th Century”. We eagerly look forward to her upcoming lectures and the rewarding, educational experience they provide to all of us in The Kensington Falls Church community.
