There is no doubt about it, October at the Kensington was filled with one party after another. They say pictures speak a thousand words! The Kensington Falls Church has had some recent remarkable events. We LOVE seeing family members, grandchildren and even our favorite four-legged friends joined us. That’s what makes The Kensington a magical home for all! We certainly loved living through all of these moments with you!
On October 7th, we had the pleasure of hosting our very own Steve Lampa and his band, The Melonheads, for a Party on the Piazza. It turned into a Saturday filled with music, dancing and wonderful food and drinks. Steve Lampa, our local celebrity, and one of the founding partners of Kensington Senior Living entertained us with a performance from his band. The Melonheads delighted us with classic rock and roll, with Steve on the guitar and vocals. Singing and dancing was enjoyed by everyone. What a fun way to spend a Saturday with family and friends. Residents from every neighborhood, staff, and family and friends all came together to enjoy the party and embody the spirit of The Kensington.
On October 19th, we had a Celebrate Austria Day. The day started with a guest speaker and visitor, Adele, who has traveled to Austria several times and shared with us fun facts and famous landmarks found in Austria, paired with some traditional Austrian treats. Kensington residents and team members participated by wearing red and white to represent the Austrian flag colors and some actually wore the flag on their lapels! For the afternoon movie, we watched an Austria travel documentary then we feasted on Austrian food for Happy hour and enjoyed entertainment with a Sound of Music Sing-along! The culmination of the day was our first Pajama Party Night where we gathered in the Cinema to watch the “Sound of Music” together as we drank some champagne (and Sparkling Apple Cider) and ate popcorn (Boom Chica Pop!)
On Sunday October 29th, the infamous pairing between the Redskins & Cowboys took place and we hosted more than 45 people in our Cinema for the viewing! Our somewhat lone ranger, Dallas Cowboy fan extraordinaire, Trina Brodie, represented the only cheering Cowboy fan! All others donned the fantastic Redskin maroon and gold to support the hometown team! The dining room presented us with the most excellent spread of tailgating food: meatballs, hotdogs, chicken wings, pasta salads, and plenty of beverages to be had by all! We can’t wait for the next game-day gathering which will likely be the Super bowl on Sunday, February 4th, 2018!
And last but certainly not least, at our recent Halloween Party on October 31st, Kensington team members and residents dressed to the nines in elaborate and festive costumes. Our very own, Dorothy emerged as the crowd favorite and Mr. Tony was the winner of our Candy Corn guessing game. What a way to end the month. Thank you all for the fun!
